Why ECO STOR

• Grid support

Our large-scale battery storage systems support the grid and help to reduce system costs in the energy network. Using the digital twin we have developed, grid bottlenecks can be predicted accurately, storage operation and grid demand can be optimally coordinated, and redispatch costs can be avoided in a targeted manner.

Reduced CO2 Emissions

Our large-scale battery storage systems contribute to the decarbonisation of the energy system by increasingly displacing fossil power plants from the market when there is no wind or darkness. A post-fossil energy supply needs much more storage.

Balanced energy prices

The necessary expansion of renewable energies leads to weather-related price fluctuations on the energy markets. The current gas and commodity crisis is further exacerbating the trend. Our storage facilities compensate for price extremes and thus ensure greater price stability.

Resilient power grids

Our large-scale battery storage systems impact on to the pulse of the European interconnected grid. They provide system services to compensate for disruptions in the electricity grids. In this way, they contribute to the security and stability of the energy supply, a cornerstone of our prosperity.

Less grid expansion

Our large-scale battery storage systems smooth out load peaks in the distribution grids. Market-linked storage systems charge anti-cyclically in times of high feed-in from wind and solar plants. Grid congestion is relieved, more renewable plants can be connected and costly grid expansion is avoided.

Less curtailment

In times of high wind or solar generation, our large-scale battery storage systems use the favourable market prices signals for charging. This relieves the strain on the grids in the vicinity of the storage facilities. Local shutdown of wind and solar power plants is avoided, so that the clean electricity can be transported to the centres of consumption via the relieved grids.

Stable local grids

Our large-scale battery storage systems are necessary buffers for smoothing local fluctuations in grid voltage. Regional grids become more robust the more storage units are connected to their grid. With the imminent introduction of a so-called reactive power market, this grid-supporting behaviour will be additionally rewarded.

Robust design

The system's unique features include its robust and modular design and a sophisticated cooling concept. This enables the systems to achieve the best price spreads on the spot market on a permanent basis and without daily restrictions on performance and cycle frequency—a decisive factor for the economic efficiency of battery storage systems.

Our projects

ECO STOR develops and builds storage projects throughout Germany. Our facilities each have a standard storage capacity of 238 MWh. Thanks to their modular design, we can easily increase this to over 700 MWh to meet specific project requirements. Our goal is to have a total of 30 locations in Germany with a capacity of 10 GWh by 2030.
